化銅爐 Copper Furnace

Description: 

The copper furnace (化銅爐) was an industry that melted copper. The outside wall was made of yellow mud. Inside of copper furnace consisted of “poor (池)” and “stove (灶)”. “Poor” was a hearth that was built of hard brick and included several copper billets prepared for melting. There was a chute (溜槽) next to the poor that helped to remove waste materials. “Stove” was a melting room that was filled with wood and other fuel. The upper side of the stove had two chimneys.

鑄統台 Casting Cannon Stage

Description:


The casting cannon stage (鑄統台) was a high cuboid stage that was made of yellow mud and the middle part was recessed. The inside of the recessed part was the shaft kiln(井窰), which was to assemble the cannon. There were two staircases at the front and back sides.
