Introduction

Introduction

Official discourse has primarily adopted a top-down perspective when examining the history of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). In contrast, the 60th Anniversary Oral History project complements this by recording the daily lives of various individuals connected to CUHK. By employing the Digital Humanities (DH) method, we can re-examine this valuable dataset within the CUHK library’s repository. This approach visualizes the everyday memories of CUHK members and makes them easily accessible to the public.

This project aims to explore how people remember places associated with CUHK. It has created an interactive map using ArcGIS Online, illustrating the differences in memories of CUHK across generations and colleges. Furthermore, the project uses LDA modelling to analyse their speeches. All the code in the project was run on Google Colab.
