Introduction

Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine

Hong Kong is a city of poetry with a number of influential poetry magazines. ”Since the 1970s, more than 80 poetry magazines have appeared in this city.”(Prof. CHEN Pangeng , 2020)

However, recent years have witnessed a significant decline in the number of poetry magazines. As shown from the table, many time-honored magazines have been discontinued.

Voice & Verse Poetry Magazine is one of the exceptions. This magazine started publication in 2011 and developed quickly when many time-honored poetry magazines had to stop publication. Based on the text data from Hong Kong Literature Database and author data from Hong Kong Writers and Artists Biographical Database, we could conduct text analysis and visualization on this magazine.

Our analysis could be divided into 3 parts:

①On the magazine level, we used topic model to generate yearly topics and terms of this magazine;

②On the author level, we generated topics of each author and calculated the author similarity;

③On the author level, we also analyzed some poetry images, including colors and seasons.
